Unity Banquet

Unity Banquet is an event COSMO hosts each year that honors Agnes Scott faculty and staff who have contributed to spreading cultural diversity in our community. This banquet is hosted by COSMO organizations and their members on a voluntary basis. The members help to set up before; greet, give a complimentary gift, and serve food during; and clean up after the event. It is completely student run.


This year's Unity Banquet theme is "Experience Cultural Exchange." There will a tea bar where each COSMO group will have a tea to serve, LU's tea is (unofficially) maté. LU is catering entrées from Papi's. The color scheme is blue, gold, and brown. The committee chose this color scheme because we believed it was conducive to a coffee house environment in that the colors are not only warm and inviting, but also soothing. The gifts are a surprise to faculty and staff, so I'm not allowed to share what it is, but I can tell you it's yellow. 


The following diagram is how the Dining Hall will be set up during Unity Banquet and the logistics.

There will be student entertainment provided by MSA, Daughters of Gaia, and ISA. There is also a specified slot where faculty and staff members as well as students will be invited to participate in open mic entertainment. There will aslo be a DJ and, hopefully, some dancing!

There is a limited amount of student seats, and in order to attend as a guest you will need to reserve your spot by contacting Jillian A Wells.

Unity Banquet isn't just about entertainment. It's about sending a message to faculty and staff that we, the student body, appreciate the work they do in order to maintain the standard that is Agnes Scott. Unity Banquet is our opportunity to serve those who serve us every day. The best way you can serve is to volunteer for one of the following positions:

1) Set Up Crew (2:00-4:00 PM)
You will be setting up tables, arranging center pieces, and decorating Evans Dining Hall.

2) Greeter (5:30-6:30 PM)
You will be greeting people at the door and taking student tickets.

3) Gift Giver (appx. 5:30-6:30 PM)
You will be handing out the free gift to faculty and staff members.

4) Server (5:30- 6:30 PM)
Servers will work in 30 minute shifts and will serve food to guests as they come through the serving line.

5) Clean Up Crew (appx. 8:00-9:00 PM)
You will be busing tables, collecting center pieces, breaking down tables and sweeping.

Please consider volunteering for this special event, so that you may participate in our collective appreciation of those who strive to spread cultural diversity in our community.
